Rangpur holds Int’l Rhyme Writers’ Confce

The International Rhyme Writers’ Conference-2018 was held in Rangpur on Friday amid festivity entertaining hundreds of children, students, socio-cultural and literary personalities and common people.

The Rangpur divisional committee of ‘Rhyme Sangsad’ organised the daylong event for the first time at Town Hall auditorium on the Public Library premises in the city.

More than 100 rhyme writers from all over the country and 11 popular rhyme writers from India, Nepal and Bhutan participated in the conference.

The rhyme writers began activities of the conference in the morning with placing of wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar on the Public Library premises paying rich tributes to the three million martyred of the Great War of Liberation of Bangladesh.

Later, living legend of Bengali rhyme literature Rafikul Haque Dadu Bhai formally inaugurated the conference after rendering the national anthem by the participating rhyme writers.

Noted child litterateur and rhyme writer Aslam Sunny attended the discussion in first session of the conference as the chief guest with Chief Advisor of Rangpur divisional committee of ‘Rhyme Sangsad’ Shahidur Rahman Bishu in the chair.

Convener of Kishoreganj Rhyme Festival Parishad Ahmed Ullah, Rhyme writer Jahangir Alam Jahan, Founder President of Anon Foundation SM Shamsul Alam, rhyme writers Adoitya Marut and Rezaul Karin Jiban addressed the function as special guests.

With President of Rangpur divisional committee of ‘Rhyme Sangsad’ Sayeed Sahedul Islam in the chair, Indian rhyme writers Maloy Chandra Mukherjee, Satish Biswas and Dilruba Ahmed, Bhutanese rhyme writer Nikita Prodhan, Nepalese rhyme writers Bhabna Pakhrel and Sonali Shrestha addressed the discussion in the second session.

Noted literary personalities, including former Head of the Department of Bengali of Rangpur Begum Rokeya Government College Professor Mohammad Shah Alam, Dr Mofizul Islam Mantu and Chief Advisor of ‘Mouchak’ Rezaul Karim Mukul addressed the programme, among others.

The participating rhyme writers from both home and abroad recited their self-composed rhymes in both of the sessions moderated by Rangpur Divisional Committee’s General Secretary of ‘Rhyme Sangsad’ Rezaul Karim Jiban, reports BSS.

At the end, Rangpur Divisional Committee of ‘Rhyme Sangsad’ awarded Rafikul Haque Dadu Bhai in the field of writing rhymes for this year.
