The distribution of free textbooks among school and madrasah students began in the port city and its adjacent areas of the Chittagong district on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Mohammad Ilias Hossain inaugurated the book distribution function and handover of newly books among students at Dr Khastagir Government High School in city’s Jamal Khan area around 11am.
Speaking at the function joined by hundreds of students Ilias Hossain said it is the New Year gift of the government for the students.
He said over 20 million textbooks for the students of primary and secondary schools, Ebatedai and Dakhil madrasas and technical institutes were being distributed in Chattogram city and district today.
District Primary Education officer Nasrine Sultana and high officials of district administration and secondary levels among others were present in the book distribution function, reports BSS.
