JU Chhatra League announces gigantic committee, 100 activists get vice-president position

The full-fledged committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Jahangirnagar University unit, was announced yesterday. Unlike quondam committees, colossal 388 members grabbed different positions here.

The committee was announced in a press release signed by Central BCL President Al Nahian Khan Joy and General Secretary Lakhak Bhattacharja on the verified Facebook page of Bangladesh Students' League on Tuesday (November 29).

As many as a hundred members have been nominated as Vice-Presidents of the committee. For the post of Joint-General Secretary and Organizing Secretary, 11 activists have been nominated each.
143 activists were made secretary and sub-secretary while 66 became co-secretary, and 55 activists of the Chhatra League became members.

Aktaruzzaman Sohel, the President of JU Chhatra League, said, "The committee of the JU Unit has been completed. A big burden has been lifted from the shoulders of both of us. The activists who sacrificed the most have got positions. I hope Chhatra League, JU unit will start working with full vigour."

Earlier, on January 3, the Central Chhatra League formed a two-member committee for JU with Aktaruzzaman Sohel as the president and Habibur Rahman Liton as the general secretary. It took more than ten months to accomplish the full committee.

Despite being such a gigantic committee, many dedicated staffers have been left out. A few activists banished and sentenced by the university administration before for different periods due to misconduct, ragging and torturing journalists are also seen in the committee. Batches and seniority were not maintained allegedly in providing positions. Pent-up anger has been seen among themselves.
