‘Jamal Nazrul Islam National Youth Researchers’ Conference inaugurated in CU

The first ‘Jamal Nazrul Islam National Youth Researchers’ Conference-2022’ was inaugurated at Chittagong University (CU) on March 9. The main event will be held on March 21 in memory of the eminent scientist, researcher and mathematician Prof Dr Jamal Nazrul Islam.

This conference is being organised by Jamal Nazrul Islam Research Centre for Mathematical and Physical Science, and Chittagong University Research and Higher Study Society (CURHS).

Prof Dr Shireen Akhter, vice-chancellor of CU, inaugurated the conference at the VC Bhaban.

CU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Benu Kumar De, Faculty members of Jamal Nazrul Islam Research Centre and teachers from different departments were also present at the inauguration programme.

CU Proctor Dr Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan was present as the chief coordinator of the conference. Besides, Dr Adnan Mannan, associate professor of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department, were the chief manager of the conference.

The main purpose of the conference is to create a research culture at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. More than 200 researchers from different universities and institutions are expected to attend the final event scheduled for 21 March.

There will be 6 different fields in this conference - Physics and Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science and Chemistry, Health and Pharmacy, Social Science and Arts, and Commerce.

Athkia Subat, research and development secretary of CURHS, said, “This conference will pave a new path for young researchers to know the nuts and bolts of different fields and their implications.”
