IUB holds orientation ceremony

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) welcomed its new undergraduate students of Spring 2019 Semester of this year through an orientation ceremony on Saturday at its campus at Bashundhara in Dhaka.

The students got enrolled in six different Schools namely, School of Business; School of Engineering & Computer Science; School of Environmental Science & Management; School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences; School of Life Sciences, and School of Public Health, said a press release.

Welcoming the newly enrolled students and the parents, IUB Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Omar Rahman called upon the new students to capitalise IUB life in order to coming out as best professionals in respective fields along with becoming responsible and quality human beings to serve the humanity.

He said that IUB is trying to build the students in such a way so that they can contribute to build prosperous Bangladesh.

IUB Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Milan Pagon thanked the parents and students for choosing IUB.

Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Anwarul Islam, Registrar of the university, highlighted the academic rules and regulations of the university.

Dr. Mohd. Aminul Karim, Dean, School of Business; Dr. Mohammed Anwer, Dean, School of Engineering and Computer Science; Dr. Abdul Khaleque, Dean, School of Environmental Science and Management; Dr. MahbubAlam, Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences also spoke in the programme.

The event was conducted by Lima Choudhury, Deputy Director, Admissions and Financial Aid Office of IUB.

Later, the newly enrolled students were oriented by the registrar, different Schools, departments, laboratories, library and other divisions of IUB.

Subsequently, they visited all schools and departments so as to acquiring basic information about the university and its teaching methodologies.

Apart from the students, parents, guardians, members of the faculty and management of IUB were present in the orientation programme.
