The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia on Saturday imposed a one-day ban on processions and meetings on the campus.

The university made the announcement in a press release, signed by student advisor Professor Paresh Chandra Barman and acting Proctor Anisur Rahman, in the morning.

IU imposed the restriction after BCL’s IU unit President SM Robiul Islam Polash and former leaders called rallies on the campus on Saturday, reports UNB.

Additional police personnel have been deployed to avert any unwanted incident, the acting proctor said.

“The students have been asked to carry identity cards. They won’t be allowed to enter the campus otherwise,” he added.

Earlier, about 200 former leaders and activists of BCL’s IU unit brought out a procession in front of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall.

They reportedly attacked BCL’s IU unit Secretary Rakibul Islam Rakib but he managed to flee.
