High Court has issued a rule seeking explanation as to why the reappointment of Professor Farzana Islam as Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University won’t be declared illegal.
An HC bench comprising Justice Syed Refat Ahmed and Justice Md Selim issued the rule on Monday.
Secretary of education ministry's secondary and higher secondary directorate, Jahangirnagar University (JU) VC and pro-VC and Deputy Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Department Zenat Rehana were asked to respond to the rule within a week.
UNB said Professor Farzana Islam was appointed VC of JU for second term earlier on February 18.
Advocate Shahdeen Malik later filed a writ challenging the re-appointment of Prof Farzana on Sunday on behalf of former JU VC Sharif Enamul Kabir and its Drama department teacher Prof Lutfar Rahman.
