Engineering students launch business case contest

In today's dynamic world, no one, especially the youth, should keep their knowledge and expertise limited to a single field. By keeping the line in mind, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology  Entrepreneurship Development Club  (BUET EDC) launched 'Pioneros' in 2016, and it was sponsored by Lafarge Surma Cement Limited. It was a business case competition which aimed to introduce BUET students to the corporate world and provide a first-hand experience in solving real-life business problems.

BUET EDC is the result of the passion and hard-work of Nazmus Sadat, Kashfia Nehrin, Raiyan Mohsin and many more. Their relentless effort and willingness to ensure the practice of entrepreneurship among the engineering students made it possible for the current students of BUET to keep pace with the growing business-oriented world. Apart from nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset among the brightest scientific minds of the country, BUET EDC aims to forge a network among BUETian entrepreneurs and industrialists. So, the aspiring youngsters can find guidance and inspiration. BUET EDC collaborate with other national and international organisations and institutions, and undertake research studies and identify technology areas having entrepreneurship opportunities.

After the success of last year's event, BUET EDC hopes to set the stage even bigger. Now they aim to reach out and spread this light of enthusiasm from the walls of BUET to other young, aspiring dreamers of Bangladesh by launching 'Pioneros 2.0'.

'Pioneros 2.0' is an inter-university industry-based business case competition for undergraduate students, providing a first-hand experience in solving real-life business problems. BUETEDC  is collaborating with its sponsoring company 'LafargeHolcim' in creating a competition that will broaden the horizon for our young aspiring minds. 'Pioneros 2.0' will be a unique 'Platform' for the talented youths to focus on business features and enhance their networking skills. It will provide the participants with the most hands-on realistic stimulants of what it would be like to take on a specific role. Also, participants will be able to develop business knowledge and essential skills and attitudes including creativity, initiative, tenacity, teamwork, understanding of risks and a sense of responsibility from this competition.

November 20, 2017 was the deadline for online case submission. The second round will be case solving on December 01, which will be followed by a workshop and preliminary round on November 24.

On December 08, 2017, the prizes will be distributed in the grand finale and gala night. This year champion, first runners-up and second runners-up will get Tk 1,00,000, Tk 50,000 and Tk 25,000 respectively.
