Students of Dhaka University (DU) on Tuesday demanded reopening of halls, classes and exams just after May 29.

They did not hear any announcement to increase the scheduled leave which is till May 29.

They made four-point demands with it, from a human chain held at Raju Sculpture of the campus. They also held a protest rally from the sculpture and paraded several streets of the campus.

The demands are-- ensuring proper investigation on the mysterious death of Hafizur Rahman and punishment if anyone is involved with it; not increasing the scheduled leave after May 29; arranging classes and examinations after reopening halls complying with health guidelines; setting up CCTV cameras in the whole campus to ensure the safety and monitoring it regularly.

Hridoy, a DU student of English department said, "All of the students have become frustrated for a long gap both from studies and campus environment. Most of the DU students were depended on tuitions, but now they are fighting to survive."

"We hope that the scheduled vacation won't be increased, and we will get a positive announcement before May 29," he added.

Obaidul Huq, another DU student said, "If garments, shopping malls, vehicles may continueactivities following health guidelines, then why will the educational institutions remain closed? All educational institutions must be reopenedby maintaining health protocols."

"Arranging classes and examinations after reopening halls-- it's all students' opinion," he added.

Moyajjem, a biochemistry student said, "Education ministry hasfailed to create an effective policy during the pandemic situation. We hope, ministry will announce reopening our campus immediately."

"If the scheduled leave is increased, then we will announce our next actions," he added.
