Case contest to solve social issues

Bangladesh University of Professionals Development Leaders' Club (BUPDLC) is launching one of its most anticipated signature events: DEVTHON 2.0, a social development case competition at the university level.
This platform is an opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with development practices, enabling them to think about the nation and world's development prospects while expressing their innovative development ideas.
In association with BRAC, DEVTHON 2.0 will ask participants to solve societal issues such as urban poverty, unemployment etc., and challenge them to come up with the most appropriate approaches that can tackle such problems.
Nabil Junied Ratul, joint secretary of BUPDLC, says, "DEVTHON 2.0 is a platform where you can find the opportunity to study about development sectors and discuss them critically to solve a given social case. Through the case competition and optimal prize money, we are trying to propagate the interest of the youth towards social development."
This year's event will have two phases held on two different days. First is the Development Case Competition (for undergraduate students), and the other is the Devtalk (a session of young development practitioners). The uniqueness of this competition is that all the rounds are designed solely focusing on development practices among young potentials. Eventually after a tough battle among participants, six teams will be positioned for the final round which is going to be held on November 05 at BUP Auditorium. Total prize money worth Tk 100,000 will be awarded to the winners. The champion of DEVTHON 2.0 will be awarded Tk 50,000 while the runners-up and the second runner up will receive Tk 30,000 and Tk 20,000 respectively.
"I feel gratified to be a part of such a distinguished event that provides development thinkers a great opportunity to unleash their inherent potential," says Mamun Or Roshid, president of BUPDLC. "BUPDLC is a promising club for the effective intervention of the development prospects."
In 2020, BUPDLC successfully organised the first edition of DEVTHON, which attracted participation from universities across the nation. The club hopes DEVTHON 2.0 will reach its full potential as well.
