A bill aimed at creating efficient manpower by providing necessary training and education to the youth was passed at the parliament on Sunday.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder moved the "Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Youth Development Bill, 2018" in the House.
The bill was passed unanimously by voice votes with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, according to BSS.
The state minister added that the proposed bill will also formalise the activities of the Institute.
The institute will have a Board of Directors and academic council like other training and academic institutes under the government.
"The institute will give time befitting training to the youth, prepare curriculum and conduct research on youth development and award degree and diploma," Dr Biren said.
He said that a 21-member executive council headed by the secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports will operate the institute.
