A fire that quickly tore through a slum in the capital's Uttara area, on Saturday, was brought under control after nearly one hour, authorities said.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported until the filing of this report, according to UNB.
Earlier, the blaze began at 4:58pm at the slum beside the rail line in Sector-8, according to Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector (media cell) of fire service headquarters.
On information, six firefighting units responded to the fire and the responders could tame the flames at 5:50pm, he said.
The reasons for the fire and the extent of damage could not be confirmed immediately, Anwarul added.
