Unified admission test in public universities from this year: UGC

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to introduce a uniform entrance test for admission to all public universities in the country from the next (2020-21) academic session.

The UGC took the decision at a meeting on Wednesday.

UGC Chairman Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah, who presided over the meeting, said preparations will begin from next month for holding uniform admission test.

Students who will pass HSC or equivalent examinations this year will be eligible for the admission test, based on their curriculum for humanities, business studies and sciences.

But, some public universities -- including Dhaka University, BUET, Jahangirnagar University --  will confirm their decision after holding meeting at their academic councils.

Earlier on January 23, the UGC primarily decided to hold admission tests in a uniform manner.
