They will continue the strike until their demands are met, said Dinajpur transport workers union general secretary Fazle Rabbi.

The strike caused untold sufferings to the hundreds of passengers of the northern districts.

At 6:15pm on Wednesday, a bus of Hajee Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) carrying its students was moving to the district town from the campus.

Following a brawl between HSTU students and workers of a public bus centring giving side on the highway, the transport workers beat up students and damaged the university bus, leaving three students injured, as per report on UNB agency.

Two of them - Nibir and Sourav - were admitted to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital, according to register book of the hospital.

Following the attack, HSTU students blocked road in front of their campus, setting fire on tyres and two buses.
