Bangladesh Railway (BR) will resume its inter city and mail/commuter train services for eight days at a half capacity from Thursday ahead of Eid-ul-adha.
In a press notice on Tuesday, the state-run train operator announced that 38 intercity trains and 19 mail/commuter trains would be operated from Thursday, July 15, to Thursday, July 22, following health guidelines.
Tickets of all trains will be available online from Wednesday as no sale from stations will be allowed.
Train services will be stopped from 6am on July 23, said the press notice issued by Information Officer Shariful Islam.
The express trains to be operated are Suborna Express, Mohanagar Godhuli/Turna, Mohanagar Provati/Turna, Teesa, Jamuna, Kishoreganj, Mohonganj, Upokul, Parabat, Joyontika/Upobon, Meghna, Ognibina, Paharika/Udayon, Sonabangla, Bijoy, Haor, Ekota, Drutojan, Bonolota, Padma, Sundarban, chitra, Rangpur, Lalmoni, Nilsagar, Rupsha, Modhumati, Titumir, Sagardari, Dalarchar, Tungipara, Borendra, Simanto, Kurigram, Banglabandh and Panchagarh.
The mail/commuter trains are Dhaka-Chattogram, Karnaphuli, Sagarika, Balaka, Jamalpur commuters, Surma mail, Titas commuter, Dewanganj commuter, Mymensingh Express, Mohua Commuter, Dhaka Commuter, Rocket Express, Mohananda Express, Paddyarag Commuter, Uttara Express, Rajbari Express, Birol Commuter, Bogra Commuter and College Train.
BR suspended its passenger services after the government announced lockdown from July 1 amid a surge in coronavirus infections and deaths.
