A bank officer died when a demo train hit him in Hamjarbagh area of Panchlaish of the port city on Tuesday.
The deceased was Rashed Khan, 31, of Mirsarai Sadar union, and an officer of Mirsarai branch of One Bank Pvt Ltd.
The accident occurred when the wheel of a rickshaw, carrying him and his child, got stuck in the railway track and the Chittagong University-bound demo train hit it, leaving Rashed critically injured, said officer-in-charge of GRP Police Station Shahidul Islam.
When he was whisked offto Chittagong Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him dead, according to UNB report.
Rashed, however, managed to save his child from the fatal accident.
