Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal has said that journalists are the conscience of the society, as they work for wellbeing of people as well as the country in many hazardous conditions.
"Journalists played a very important role during the War of Liberation in 1971," he said while speaking as the chief guest at a programme of newly elected committee of Luxmipur Press in Luxmipur on Saturday.
Kamal said journalists inspired people to raise voice against Pakistani occupation publishing news and airing programmes globally through newspapers and Betar.
The minister also urged the newsmen to be very careful before releasing news so that it (the news) doesn't become harmful to the state as well as innocent ones.
Presided over by Luxmipur Press Club president Kamal Uddin Hawlader, the programme was also addressed, among, others, by lawmakers Mohammad Noman, Abdullah al Mamun and deputy commissioner Anjan Chandra Paul, reports BSS.
