The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Monday upheld the High Court order that had asked the authorities concerned to provide first class division facilities to photographer Shahidul Alam in jail.
Chamber judge Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order after holding a hearing on a petition filed by the State seeking stay of the order. He also kept the petition 'out-of-list'.
On September 5, the High Court directed the authorities concerned to provide first division facilities to the acclaimed photographer in jail, UNB reported.
Detectives arrested Shahidul from his Dhanmondi residence on August 5. The next day, a case was filed against him with Ramna Police Station under the ICT act.
According to the case documents, Shahidul had spread propaganda through his Facebook account during the student movement demanding safe roads.
