Tangail road accidents toll reaches 10

The death toll in Thursday’s two road accidents in Tangail reached 10 with with four more critically injured persons dying while being taken to hospitals.


Tangail highway police said, a Tangail-bound truck and a Dhaka-bound microbus collided head-on around 3pm at Bhatakura neighbourhood in Basail upazila, leaving four people dead on spot and six injured.


Four more died after being taken to the Tangail Sadar Hospital while two are admitted there with injuries, said Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge at Modhupur (Elenga) highway police outpost.


The victims could not be identified.


The other incident took place around 12:30pm at Telki in Madhupur upazila.


Madhupur OC Shafiqur Islam said the victims, ‘Shohag’ and ‘Himel’, started a motorcycle race in the neighbourhood but lost control.


Sohag died on spot while Himel suffered fatal injuries, OC Islam said.


“He was first admitted to the Tangail Medical College Hospital but died on the way to Dhaka,” according to UNB.
