Scores of current and former students of Dhaka University staged demonstrations at the foot of Raju memorial sculpture in the university premises on Saturday morning demanding a reformation of the existing quota system in government jobs.

The students, under the banner of General Student's Right Protection Council (Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Sangrokkon Parishad) took position on road from Shahbagh intersection to Doyel Chattar at 10:30am.

The protesters were seen carrying posters and placards demanding introduction of unified pass marks for all candidates of BCS preliminary test, review of quota system in Bangladesh Civil Services (BCS) and other government jobs, fixation of 10 percent quota instead of existing 57 percent etc.

A large number of police were deployed at the area to avert any untoward incident, says a UNB report.

However, the demonstrators peacefully left the place around 12:15 pm.
