The special mango train with 3,000 kgs of mangoes left for Dhaka from Rahanpur Rail Station in Chapainawabganj on Monday afternoon, railway authorities said.
The special train service for transporting mangoes from Chapainawabganj to Dhaka inaugurated around 4:00 pm and Chief Transportation Officer of Bangladesh Railway West zone, Shahidul Islam inaugurated the service.
Every day, the special mango train will leave the Rahanpur station around 4:00 pm and it will leave for Dhaka from Chapainawabganj rail station around 6:00 pm.
Traders have to pay Tk 1.31 per kgs of mango to avail the transportation, reports UNB.
Besides, other goods including fruits and vegetables can be transported by the special train.
The train will make a stopover at Chapainawabganj, Amnura Junction, Kakonhat, Rajshahi, Sardah, Arani, Akkelpur, Bangabandhu West Bridge, Joydebpur and Dhaka Airport Rail Station for loading and unloading goods, said Mamun, Station Master of Rahanpur Railway Station.
The government has introduced the mango special train service in June 2020 on Chapainawabganj-Dhaka route aiming to transport mangoes at a low price.
