Some 85 per cent of the required safety flaws has been fixed in factories inspected by the engineers of Alliance.

Out of the percentage, 80 per cent are high priority safety issues and a total of 234 factories have completed all required remediation prescribed in the remedial action plan.

Alliance executive director Jim Moriarty disclosed the findings while addressing a press conference held in a city hotel on Wednesday.

"Our factories are demonstrably safer today that when the Alliance began and the hard work that factory owners have undertaken since 2013 is now paying off, as hundreds of factories are reaching CAP closure," Moriarty said.

Alliance has inspected more than 700 factories while it suspended business relation with 162 factories over their failure to comply with the safety requirements.

The achievement represents a starting lines for these factories maintaining safety standards must remain an ongoing priority, he said adding "we are committed to transitioning our programme in a way that paves the way for sustainable progress beyond 2018."
