Signal 3 to continue for maritime ports

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to continue hoisting local cautionary signal number three due to strong monsoon prevailing over north Bay.

“Deep convection is taking place over the North Bay and adjoining coastal area due to strong monsoon,” said a met office warning message issued on Tuesday.

Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh, the message added, reports BSS.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.

Moreover, river ports of the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox’s bazar have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number two by 6:00pm Tuesday as rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south or southeasternly gusty or squally wind speeding 60-80 kph is likely to occur over the regions, said another met office warning message.

Moreover, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south or southeasterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur elsewhere over the country wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one.
