At least seven people, including a traffic constable, were killed and six others injured in three separate road crashes in Dhaka, Kuhstia and Narsingdi districts on Tuesday.
In Dhaka, the traffic constable was crushed under a truck in Technical intersection of Mirpur Road in the capital in the morning.
Sources said that the deceased, Abdul Majid, 35, was performing duty when a truck hit him at around 7:00am, leaving him critically injured.
Later, Majid was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries.
In Narsingdi, a primary school teacher and a young man were killed, and three others wounded in a road crash at Badhuar Char on Narsingdi-Raipura road in Sadar upazila of the district in the morning.
The deceased were identified as Fatema Tuz Johora, 24, a teacher of Panchchabati Primary School and a resident of Puranpara area in district town, and Bashir Miah, 26, of the area.
Md Muzaffar Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the accident took place around 8:30am, leaving Fatema dead on the spot and four others critically injured.
Locals rescued the injured and sent them to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital from where Bashir was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition was deteriorating.
Bashir succumbed to his injuries on way to DMCH, the OC added.
In Kushtia, four people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw near Laxmipur bus stand in Sadar upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The deceased could not be identified immediately, reports UNB.
Ratan Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Islamic University (IU) Police Station, said that a bus collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw around 10:30am, leaving three passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and four injured.
Later, the injured were rushed to Sadar Hospital where another succumbed to his injuries.
