The Supreme Court administration has taken initiatives with the intention of increasing the use of 'Court Technology' to establish a sustainable judicial system by ensuring the free flow of judicial information to reduce the delay and the cost of disposing of cases in the courts across the country.
The authorities have already formed a four-member committee to this effect and set out the terms of reference of the committee.
Md Muajjem Hussain, special officer (Additional District Judge) of the High Court Division of the SC, will act as the President and Md Abdul Malek, Assistant Registrar (Protocol) of the HC Division, will act as the Member-Secretary of the Committee.
Two other members of the Committee are--- M M Morshed, Deputy Registrar (Admin & Finance) of the Appellate Division of the SC, and Md Moinuddin Kadir, Assistant Registrar (Research Unit) of the HC.
Md Saifur Rahman, registrar of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will oversee the committee's activities. The committee has been formed with the approval of Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, said a notification issued on Thursday by Md Golam Rabbani, registrar General of the SC.
The committee will prepare and implement an action plan for the purpose of increasing the structural and procedural capacity of the Judiciary by identifying the existing obstacles and barriers in providing easier, faster and cost-effective judicial services, in line with the Constitution of Bangladesh, statutory laws, established principles of justice and the goals of sustainable development.
The committee will also increase the use of timely information, communication and internet technology in the country's court system in order to reduce excessive delay in disposing of cases and unexpected costs of judicial process in terms of time demand and reality as well as facilitating the use of advanced court technology powered by machine learning, big data and artificial intelligence.
It will ensure free flow of judicial information with a view to making access to justice systems more advanced, convenient, accessible, unobstructed and non-discriminatory.
The committee with the help of new applications, wave-based services and innovative solutions will take effective steps to accelerate the ongoing activities undertaken by the Supreme Court with the aim of establishing the rule of law in the country and playing a visible role in sustainable development through ensuring transparency, accountability and quality justice in the courts of the country.
