Golam Sarwar, the editor of Daily Samakal, died on Monday night at a hospital in Singapore. He was 75.
The veteran journalist, who had long been suffering from various dieses, breathed his last around 9:25 pm (BST) at the Singapore General Hospital, UNB says quoting Samakal city editor Shahed Chowdhury.
President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina condoled the death.
Journalist Golam Sarwar was born on April 1, 1943 at Banaripara in Barishal.
Golam Sarwar was the chairman of the board of directors of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB). He was also the president of editors' council.
The former editor of Daily Jugantor obtained Master's degree in Bangla literature with honours from Dhaka University. He started his carrier as a journalist in 1963.
