The proposed Road Transport Act 2018 will be placed before the parliament next Sunday, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Wednesday.
The bill may even get passed into a law during the current (22nd) parliamentary session if the committee could finalise it before the end of the session, the minister said this while speaking to reporters after the board meeting of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) at Nagar Bhaban.
"If not during this session, the govt will hopefully enact it in the last parliamentary session due in October," the minister added.
Quader also said that it is now mandatory for every bikers and pillion riders, including the children, to wear helmets on the roads.
