Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has signed a friendship "Letter of Intent (LoI)" with the China's Yiyang city aiming to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
The LoI on the establishment of the friendship relationship between the two cities is aimed at promoting mutual understanding and friendship among the Bangladeshi and the Chinese people, reports Xinhua.
Zhang Zhiheng, mayor of Yiyang, and AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, mayor of Rajshahi, signed the memorandum at a ceremony in Dhaka on behalf of their respective sides.
Xu Dazhe, the governor of Hunan Province, Fazle Hossain Badsha, the Members of Parliament, and other guest from both sides were present at the ceremony.
Under the LoI, both sides agreed to make concerted efforts on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.
They also agreed to promote friendly people-to-people contacts, economic and trade interflow, exchange views and ideas, cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology as well as culture, sports, health, education, youth, administration, etc.
Before the signing ceremony, both sides held meeting to discuss and share the opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
