The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested an engineer of Bangladesh Railway's Kulaura section while taking bribe from an employee at the Kulaura Railway Station in the district.
The detainee was identified as Mohammad Erfanur Rahman, senior assistant engineer of Railway Kulaura section, reports UNB.
Deputy Director of ACC Habiganj coordinated district office Moloy Kumar Saha said Erfanur used to take bribe from his subordinate on a monthly basis since his posting in Kulaura five years ago.
Following the information, an ACC team conducted a drive at Kulaura Railway Station around 10:00pm on Tuesday and caught Erfanur red-handed while he was taking Tk 10,000 as bribe from Abul Hossain, a Railway wireman, he said, adding that the engineer was handed over to Bangladesh Railway Police.
Officer-in-charge of Kulaura Railway Police Station Abdul Malek said Erfanul was sent him to jail when he was produced before a court on Wednesday.
