Quota reform leader Rashed on 10-day fresh remand

A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Rashed Khan, joint convener of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council, on a 10-day fresh remand in two separate cases filed with Shahbagh Police Station.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Asaduzzaman Nur passed the order after rejecting the bail plea of the accused.

The Detective Branch (DB) investigation officers of two cases sought 10-day remand in each case to interrogate Rashed while the court placed him on five-day remand in each case, reports UNB.

Earlier on July 2, Rashed was put on a five-day remand in a case filed under the ICT Act.

On July 1, detectives arrested Rashed from Bhasantek area of the city after Al Nahian Khan Joy, Law Affairs secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League, filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station.

Police also showed Rashed arrested in another case filed over vandalising the house of Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzamanon April 8.
