Quota movement leader Luma gets bail

Lutfur Nahar Luma Sarkar, a student of Eden College and a leader of quota reform movement, have secured bail.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Subrata Ghose granted the bail petition on Monday, reports UNB.

Luma's lawyer Jotirmoy Barua filed a bail petition on Sunday while the court set Monday to hear it due to lack of documents.

With Luma's bail, the last detained student leader of quota reform movement has been freed on bail.

The joint convener of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council was arrested on August 15 in a case under Information and Communication and Technology (ICT) Act.

On August 16, Luma, a joint convener of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council, platform that leads the ongoing quota reform movement, was placed for 3-day remand.

The case was filed against her on August 5 with Ramna Police Station.

On August 15, police arrested Luma, daughter of Abdul Kuddus of Baoikhola village in Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj and a 2nd year student of Social Science Department of Eden College from Sirajganj.
