A doa mahfil (Qulkhwani) for the salvation of the departed soul of the founder editor of The Financial Express, AHM Moazzem Hossain was held after Asr prayers at his residence at Boro Mogbazar in the city on Monday.
Chairman of International Publications Limited (IPL), the owning company of The Financial Express Mahbubur Rahman, former cabinet secretary Dr Saadat Husain, former chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Md Abdul Majid, chairman of Southeast Bank Ltd Alamgir Kabir, CEO of Standard Chartered Bangladesh Naser Ezaz Bijoy, acting editor of the newspaper Shahiduzzaman Khan and journalists & employees of FE attended, among others.
AHM Moazzem Hossain passed away at Square Hospital in the city on August 1 at the age of 72.
He was buried at Azimpur graveyard after namaj-e-janaza at Ramna Estate Complex, Financial Express premises, Southeast Bank premises and National Press Club premises on Thursday.
He had been the editor of the country's lone financial daily since its inception in 1993.
He had navigated the newspaper very successfully and brought its reputation to the zenith as a leading business English daily in the country.
He was also the publisher of FE and managing director of IPL.
