Priyanka Chopra hears Rohingya children’s harrowing tales

Bollywood actress and UNICEF goodwill ambassador for child rights Priyanka Chopra was traumatised hearing stories of atrocities from Rohingyas on Wednesday.

She said she was deeply hurt hearing the horrible stories of persecution of Myanmar army in Rakhine state.

Priyanka talked to Rohingyas at Jamtoli refugee camp under Ukhia upazila on the third day of her Cox's Bazar tour.

She visited two Rohingya refugee camps on the day.

Priyanka started for Jamtoli camp with a UNICEF team at around 9:00am. Having reached the spot, she first talked to children.

She exchanged some Bangla words with them like "Tomra kemon aso?", "Tomar nam ki?", "Tomra school-e jao?" and "Kon class-e poro?"

Rohingya children answered to her queries in Bangla.

Priyanka passed half an hour with the children.

From Jamtoli, she headed for Balukhali camp. It was noon when she reached Balukhali.

Priyanka talked to the refugees and their children. She also visited activities of a child development centre established by UNICEF.

Ending the day's programme at 1:30pm, she returned to her hotel where she has been staying since Monday.

According to sources, Priyanka will visit the largest Kutupalong Rohingya refugee camp tomorrow.

There she will see the condition of the refugees and will talk to Rohingya children.
