President Abdul Hamid has said there is no alternative to using the maritime resources for further development of the nation.

The vast sea area is full of fish, mineral oil, natural gas and other undiscovered valuable mineral ones, the President said.
Abdul Hamid came up with the remarks while addressing a function at Titumir Naval Base Jetty of Khalishpur in Khulna on Wednesday.

The President also formally handed over these warships to Bangladesh Navy after the ceremony.
He also emphasised on security measures in marine areas as over 90 per cent of trades and business with the foreign countries are being conducted on sea routes.
The President also observed that the whole world is now focusing on marine resources as the limited land resources is being used frequently everywhere.
Hamid said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had a dream to make Bangladesh Navy a three-dimensional force.
"The present government has already taken short- and long-term plans that are expected to be materialised by 2030," he added.
