Police aviation wing will enable the agency achieve three-dimensional capability, says IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed on Monday said Bangladesh Police will be able to achieve three-dimensional capability after launching its newly formed aviation wing.

The Aviation Wing also will play a vital role in quick communication, conducting important operations, search operations and rescue operations in remote areas, he said.

The IGP was exchanging views with a delegation of Army Aviation School led by Major General IKM Mostahsinul Baki, Group Commander of Army Aviation Group, at the Hall of Pride in Police Headquarters on Monday.

Saying that the Army Aviation School has been playing a special role in training the pilots of the newly formed aviation wing of the Bangladesh Police, the Benazir said the armed forces, especially the army, have good professional relations and cooperation with the Bangladesh Police. The field of such cooperation would be further enhanced and consolidated in the future, he hoped.

The IGP said the Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Police have a long history and tradition of working shoulder to shoulder together in any need and crisis of the country.

Comparing security with oxygen, the IGP said that just as no human being can survive without oxygen, society or state cannot be imagined without security, reports UNB.

He said Bangladesh Police is engaged in providing security to the lives and property of 180 million people of the country.

Maj Gen Mostahsinul said that the trainees of Bangladesh Police are participating in the training with great interest and sincerity. They will be able to develop themselves as qualified pilots, he hoped.

At present, ten trainees from different forces are participating in Aviation Basic Course at Army Aviation School. Four of them are from Bangladesh Police. All four police trainees have already successfully completed their solo flight. They will join the police aviation wing as pilots.

DIG (Logistics) of Police Headquarters Md. Tawfiq Mahbub Chowdhury among others spoke on the occasion. Assistant Superintendent of Police Fatema Tuj Johra shared her feelings about the thrilling experience of the training.

Additional IGs of Police Headquarters and concerned senior officers were present on the occasion.

It may be mentioned that the purchase of two modern helicopters from Russia for the aviation wing of Bangladesh Police is currently under process.
