Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock at the death of AM Nurul Islam Onu, the private secretary (PS) to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In a condolence message on Wednesday, the Prime Minister recalled with profound respect to Onu who was the founding president of US chapter Awami League.
"We've lost a dedicated politician and an efficient organiser in his death," she said.
Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her sympathy to the bereaved family.
Onu breathed his last at the United Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday morning while he was undergoing treatment there, reports UNB.
He suffered a cardiac arrest on Thursday and was on life support in the CCU of the hospital.
