Two projects of Islamic Foundation have created employment facilities for 1,58,702 people.
The projects are titled mosque-based child and mass education programme and education and resource centre programme.
Assistant project director of the mosque-based child and mass education programme Alman Hossain said a total of 81,067 people got job under the mosque-based child and mass education programme, while 77,635 people have been employed under education and resource centre programme.
He said under the mosque-based child and mass education programme, children were imparted education on different subjects, including Bangla, Mathematics, English and Arabic, to make them skilled workforce with moral values.
A total of 1,18,93,950 people, including children and adults, were given education, Alman Hossain said adding the mosque-based child and mass education programme have been successful for imparting education to the people at the grassroots level.
The government has extended the term of the mosque-based child and mass education programme till 2019 to promote education among the underprivileged people, the project sources said. The cost of programme has been fixed at Tk 22.72 billion (Tk 2,272 crore), they added.
Alman Hossain said, "We have engaged imams of mosques in the country to encourage the people to get educated.... Alongside Islamic education, people of different ages are acquiring knowledge on general education, which make them skilled human resources."
Under the education and resource centre programme, a total of 520 resource centres have been established to impart education to the people. As many as 73,768 education centres will be set up by 2019 to expand education across the country, reports BSS.
