The number of voters in the country has now increased to 104.1 million from 101.4 million in 2017, according to the Election Commission's updated electoral roll published Wednesday.
"The number of total voters now stands at 10,41,42,381 today (on Jan 31) posting a increase by 27,01,780 in the last one year," EC acting Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed told a press conference.
The EC arranged the press conference at the city's Nirbachan Bhaban to release the final updated voter list of 2018 as per the law.
Of the total voters, 5,25,12,105 are men (50.42 pc) while 5,16,30, 276 are female (49.58 pc).
Helaluddin Ahmed said as there is an opportunity for people to be included in the voter list as another final voter list will be released before the next national election to be held in December next.
Some 4.4 million fresh voters were included in the voter list, while some 1.7 million dead voters were removed from it following the countrywide voter updating programme conducted from July 2017.
On January 31, 2017, the number of total voters was 10,14,40,601, he added.
As per the law, the EC publishes draft updated voter list on January 2 every year, while the final updated voter list on January 31 every year disposing of complaints over fresh voters, if any.
Meanwhile, Chittagong district have got 1,62,828 voters. With the current addition, the total number of voters is now 19,50,669 in its port city and 36,94,714 in 15 upazilas.
