With an aim to reduce road accidents in the country to 50 per cent by 2020, the national road safety strategic action plan has been approved.
The action plan got the approval in the 25th meeting of the National Road Safety Council (NRSC) presided over by Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader in the city on Sunday.
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, State Minister of Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Moshiur Rahman Ranga and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Road Transport and Bridges Ekabbar Hossain were present at the meeting.
A decision was taken in the meeting stating that excel load control rules will become effective from December 1 to control heavy load of vehicles on roads and highways.
