Monwar Hossain appointed next ambassador to Myanmar

The government has decided to appoint Md Monwar Hossain as the next Bangladesh ambassador to Myanmar.

Hossain, who is currently serving as deputy permanent representative at the permanent mission of Bangladesh to the UN in New York, will be replacing ambassador Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury in this capacity, a foreign ministry press release said on Thursday.

Hossain is a career foreign service officer belonging to the 20th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS)-Foreign Affairs cadre, reports BSS.

Joining the service in 2001, Hossain has served extensively in various capacities both at the headquarters in Dhaka as well as in such Bangladesh missions in Washington DC and Singapore.

Hailing from Rajshahi, Hossain obtained his MBBS degree from Chattogram Medical College.

Later, he did his Masters of Science in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from University of London and a PhD in Public Health Communication from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
