Minister Inu hints at amending Digital Security Act

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has hinted at the possibility of revisions to the newly introduced Digital Security Act.

“All laws can be changed or amended,” he said at the third national conference organised by Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra at the Press Institute of Bangladesh in Dhaka on Sunday, bdnews24.com reports.

Top newspaper editors formed a human chain on Monday last in an unprecedented move demanding amendments to nine sections of the Act which they believe will curb media freedom.

The Digital Security Bill 2018 was passed in parliament on Sept 19 and President Abdul Hamid signed it into a law on Oct 8 despite protests and concerns from the media.
