Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra were advised to hoist cautionary signal no one over a depression over the Southwest Bay and adjoining areas.
The depression over Southwest Bay and adjoining area (lat. 11.6 degree N, long, 92.5 degree E) and was centred at 12 noon on Saturday about 1180 km southwest of Chattogram port, 1095 km Southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 1250 km South-Southwest of Mongla port and 1180 km south-southwest of Payra port, said a Met office bulletin issued on Saturday.
According to UNB, it is likely to intensify further and move in a North-westerly direction.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 km of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50kph in gusts/squalls, it said.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
