Maj Gen Shafeenul becomes new BGB chief

The government has appointed Major General Md Shafeenul Islam as Director General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday, reports UNB.

Major General Md Shafeenul Islam, who was serving as the Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board, replaced Major General Abul Hossain as the chief of the paramilitary force.

Abul Hossain was withdrawn and attached to the Armed Forces Division on March 7.

Meanwhile, Major General Jahangir Al Mustahidur Rahman has been made new Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board, according to the notification.

Major General Md Shafeenul Islam had been serving as the Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board since February 14 of 2016.

He joined Bangladesh Military Academy on June 25, 1984 and was commissioned on June 27, 1986 in the Corps of Infantry.

He has attended several professional courses both at home and abroad.

Shahfeenul is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur and obtained his Masters in Defence Studies from National University, Bangladesh.
