BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has urged the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to strengthen diplomatic efforts to solve Rohingya crisis.

"I would ask the international bodies, including the UN and the OIC, to step up diplomatic efforts to solve this crisis," she said.

The former Prime Minister made the call on Monday during her visit to the refugee camps at Ukhiya in Cox's Bazar.

"Myanmar government has to take back Rohingya refugees from Bangladesh for the sake of humanity," said Khaleda.

She also blamed the government for not taking proper diplomatic efforts to send the Rohingyas back.

"Moreover, it (the government) created obstacles for those who wanted to work for them," Khaleda alleged.

According to a bdnews24.com report, more than 600,000 Rohingyas, mostly Muslims, have fled the Rakhine state in Buddhist-majority Myanmar since security forces responded to Rohingya militants' attacks on Aug 25 by launching a crackdown.
