At least 26 people were killed in building collapse in 66 incidents across the country in 2019, showed official data.
The firefighters also rescued 119 victims from different places in those incidents, according to the data available with Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence (BFSCD).
However, the department did not disclose any figure of injured victims.
Dhaka has the highest number of deaths with 16 in 50 incidents while no people were killed in Khulna, Sylhet, Barisal, Rangpur and Mymensingh, the department’s report showed.
The fire service officials also rescued 89 people in those incidents, the BFSCD data added.
Building collapses are common in the country. In 2013, a garment factory collapse, one of the biggest incidents in the country’s history, killed 1,134 people and injured 2,500.
