A delegation of the Bangladesh Ikebana Association (BIA) headed by Prof. AKM Dr. AKM Moazzem Hussain, founder of the organisation, paid a courtesy call on newly appointed Japanese ambassador Iwama Kiminori at the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka.
During the meeting held on Sunday, Professor Hussain explained the BIA’s mission, vision, and activities in Bangladesh since 1974, said a BIA press release on Monday.
In his speech, Life Patron and Honorary CEO of BIA Masud Karim said Japan is a brotherly country of Bangladesh.
"Our two countries have longstanding diplomatic relations. Along with Ikebana, we are always working to deepen the diplomatic and cultural relations between these two countries," he added.
President of Bangladesh Ikebana Association Shahinoor Baby sought the cooperation of ambassadors in Ikebana activities in Bangladesh.
The Ambassador said that the Embassy of Japan will always cooperate with the activities of BIA as much as possible.
Bangladesh Ikebana Association organised various programmes on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Japan-Bangladesh diplomatic relations in June last year.
