A sub-inspector (SI) of police, Ashikur Rahman, was handed over to the Dhaka range of police after he was detained from a Thai Airways flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
He was allegedly trying to travel with the Bangkok-bound flight (TG-340), which was scheduled to take off at 2:00am on Saturday, without having any document like ticket, passport and visa.
The SI, who hailed from Gopalganj, has been posted to police bureau of investigation (PBI) recently.
SI Ashikur allegedly entered the airport with his uniform on and crossed the green channel on excuse of investigation, sources said. He was later found inside the aircraft, which was ready for departure.
But captain of the flight denied taking off with the passenger on safety ground.
The incident took place just a day before the announcement of a suspension on the direct air cargo ban from Dhaka.
The British government announced the suspension after two years at the conference room of HSIA Sunday. The UK had imposed the ban on March 08 in 2016 on security ground.
CAAB chairman Air Vice Marshal M Naim Hassan told the FE that they were looking into the matter very seriously. A man with a police outfit cannot board on an aircraft this way.
"We will not spare the person. Several agencies, including police and airport magistrate, are investigating into the incident," he said.
