Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Tuesday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours commencing at 11 am today.
“Due to strong monsoon over North Bay, deep convection is taking place over North Bay and its adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh,” said a Met office warning message this morning.
Under its influence, heavy (44-88mm) to very heavy (>89mm) rainfall with gusty or squally wind is likely to occur in Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, the message said.
Due to very heavy rainfall, landslides may occur at some places over the hilly regions in Chattogram Division, reports UNB.
