Marking the International Women's Day, the High Court (HC) on Thursday granted bail to a woman who had been serving life imprisonment over a child abduction case.
A HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim passed the order, reports UNB.
The woman is identified as Monowara Begum, 45, wife of Ismail and daughter of Qadir Hossain of Dhechua area in Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar district.
The court also directed the deputy commissioner and social services officer in Cox's Bazar to rehabilitate the woman if she fails to find her relatives in her home town.
Cox's Bazar court on November 27 in 2001, sentenced Monowara for life-term imprisonment as she abducted a minor girl, Razia, 8, from her parent's house in Zhilangjha area of Sadar upazila on June 13 of 1998.
Later, police rescued the victim and arrested Monowara in 1998. Since then she was in jail.
