Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Thursday flagged off a passenger train, Bandhan Express, between Khulna and Kolkata. Currently, Maitree Express connects Dhaka to Kolkata.
They also inaugurated the end-to-end immigration and customs facilities for both of the trains through videoconferencing on Wednesday morning.
Hasina and Modi opened the second Bhairab and the second Titas bridges to traffic as well, with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee joining them from Kolkata.
